Ancient Dreams In A Modern Land Tour is the sixth concert tour by Marina Diamandis in support of her fifth studio album, Ancient Dreams In A Modern Land. The tour was announced alongside the album and began on February 2, 2022, in San Francisco, California and concluded on May 25, 2022, in Dublin, Ireland.

Background[]

In a podcast on June 7, 2021, with 1A,[1] Marina mentioned her plans to begin the tour around Spring 2022. The tour was officially announced on the 11th with a run of North American and Europe dates.[2]

This tour, similarly to the Ancient Dreams: Live from the Desert online concert, will have a full band on-stage,[3] in which dancers seen during the Love + Fear Tour are to be no longer present.

On November 22, during an Instagram Q&A, Fabian Egger, the drummer of the tour's band, was asked:[4]

What song are you most excited to perform for Ancient Dreams tour?
An old Marina Classic off of FROOT that she's bringing back into the set as well as a LOVE + FEAR record that I didn't get to play on the last tour.

True, You and Too Afraid, which were not played during the Love + Fear Tour, were speculated to be performed. However, they were again absent from the setlist. As there was no live band for the Love + Fear Tour, Fabian was likely expressing his excitement at playing any LOVE + FEAR track, as he has not yet done so.

On December 3, it was announced Pussy Riot and Tove Styrke would be joining Marina as opening acts during the North America run.[5]

On the 31st, Marina tweeted:[6] [7][8]

Tour begins in 2 days. I can’t believe this is finally real. We’re gonna be in the same room as each other?!
Rehearsals are over. My brain has crumbled to stardust. I’m ready *Don’t worry, these photos don’t reveal anything...
And yes. THE BAND. IS BACK. AND BIGGER. THAN EVER. And yes. The costumes. Include. A lot. Of leather.

On the same day, the date for Toronto, Canada, was cancelled due to government restrictions.[9]

Costumes[]

On January 27, 2022, in an interview with Galore Magazine, Marina discussed the tour's outfits:[10]

How about fashion? Any hints on what kind of outfits we’ll see on your upcoming tour?
It’s gonna be very, very different from any other tour because I usually do custom and quite costumey, theater-y vibes, and this is gonna be much more streetwear. Well, I say streetwear, but I’m doing like blue metallic thigh-high boots. What I said to my stylist was, “On stage I want to feel like I’m going out for a great night out with my friends to the bars.” I wanna do hot pants, knee-high boots, cute t-shirts, tassel leather jackets…It’s gonna be quite different, but I’m excited to do something new and actually to feel a little bit more comfortable on stage. I’m not gonna do multiple costume changes anymore, for this tour.
