End of the Earth is a song by Marina Diamandis, released under her current stage name 'MARINA'. Appearing on her fourth studio album, LOVE + FEAR, it is the 8th track on the album.
It was written by Marina, Joe Janiak, and James Flannigan, who also produced the song.
End of the Earth is a 'LOVE' track.
Background[]
Originally, End of the Earth was written and produced for an unknown movie. In a Q&A for LOVE + FEAR, Marina explained:[1]
❝ A movie was coming out and they had approached me and said "we'd love you to write a song", and I haven't really done that before, in the past I was like "how can I just make a song on command for a movie?" But then, low and behold I did it! [..] I was like I fucking love this, I love this so much! I think because the theme they wanted me to talk about was so specific, I was with two of my really good friends, Joe Janiak and James Flannigan, who I'd written with before. It felt very, of that moment. [..] I was like, "maybe I shouldn't give it to them, because maybe it should be for me" but anyway in the end they didn't use it so I was happy for it to be mine again! ❞
On April 4th, End of the Earth was released digitally with the other LOVE tracks. Marina explained why on social media:[2]
❝ I created "LOVE + FEAR" as 2 separate records to be listened to individually. I'm releasing "LOVE" today so you can listen to it in full before we move onto "FEAR". Enjoy it here! ❞
Additionally sharing a quote from Elisabeth Kübler-Ross:[3]
❝ "There are only two emotions: Love and Fear. All positive emotions come from love, all negative emotions from fear. We cannot feel these two emotions together, at exactly the same time. They're opposites" - Elisabeth Kübler-Ross ❞
However, on the 26th, when LOVE + FEAR was released in full, the "LOVE" portion was no longer available to stream separately. At an unknown date, it was made available to stream again.[4]
Meaning[]
Marina has stated:[5]
❝ [End Of The Earth] is kind of like a sister song to To Be Human in that it focuses on that idea of unity again. It highlights the unity of being part of the human race and relates it to loving somebody infinitely. It's a very cinematic sounding track. I wrote it with my friends - Joe Janiak and James Flannigan - who also wrote No More Suckers with me" ❞
She also said:[6]
❝ This feels cinematic to me. I was writing it in mind for a film, but once I started writing it I decided I needed it on the record. It feels like the sister track to 'To Be Human', I think. Driving home that message of unity. ❞
Trivia[]
- The song was written in "about" six hours.[7]

End of the-
[Verse 1]
Love can never be what you want it to be
But I’d still follow you down, slow motion, no sound
To the edge of the world
[Pre-Chorus]
(Hmm) Tell me, why do we fight?
[Chorus]
We’re all living in the same universe
Where the stars collide as the planets turn
But I’ll give my love, I don’t care if it hurts
‘Cause I’ll love you till the end
I’ll love you till the end of the Earth
[Verse 2]
Do you ever think how this life could’ve been?
If you never took the chance, a leap of faith and dance
With losing it all
[Pre-Chorus]
(Hmm) So just wait, wait for me
[Chorus]
We’re all living in the same universe
Where the stars collide as the planets turn
But I’ll give my love, I don’t care if it hurts
‘Cause I’ll love you till the end
[Bridge]
If we’re torn apart, then I won’t let go
‘Cause wherever we are, it feels like home
And I’ll love you till the end
I’ll love you till the end

[Chorus]
But I’ll give my love, I don’t care if it hurts

But I’ll give my love, I don’t care if it hurts
