I'm Not Hungry Anymore is an unreleased song by Marina Diamandis, intended for her third studio album, FROOT, and then its scrapped repackage. In 2019, it was promised as a stand-alone single due to fan demand, but was scrapped once more.

The song was written by Marina alone and produced by David Kosten.

Background

On July 16, 2014, Marina uploaded a snippet of the bridge to her Instagram account.

Meaning

In a 2019 interview with Billboard, after being asked why she thought the song resonated with fans, Marina stated:

❝ Oh my god, I literally just don't know. Part of it might be because it was never released, so it's gained this cult status... thematically, maybe it's just that people love the idea of feeling in a position where you're not... I mean, for me the song was about not needing certain things anymore, not being attracted to certain things. Particularly with my career and my industry, it was like a letting go feeling, so maybe that resonates with people. ❞

FROOT Repackage

In April 2015, Marina stated she wanted to add seven additional songs, a month later explaining she had "a few songs" that did not make the final tracklist, as they were not finished and did not belong on the original tracklist, however, would be "really fitting" for the repackage.

In June of the same year, in response to a fan's question asking if the songs would be ready for the Neon Nature Tour, Marina stated:

❝ Tbh, I don't know. I'm always writing- and you will definitely get one more song from the FROOT sessions (hehe..) - but I'm undecided about whether I will do a repack or start a new piece of work/ new projects. We'll see!!! ❞

Marina was later in studio for the repackage in July, speculated to work on the song, as she expressed difficulty with production. However, the idea was ultimately scrapped due to feeling FROOT worked better as a 12 track album.^{[citation needed]}

Potential Release

In 2017, the song would eventually leak, approximately three years after its snippet was first shared.

In 2019, Marina created a Facebook poll in order to ask fans what songs they would like to hear on the LOVE + FEAR tour. The poll allowed fans to add their own options, resulting in I'm Not Hungry Anymore gaining significant traction, despite being an unreleased track. In response, Marina shared a video with the caption:

❝ just on my way to add 'I'M NOT HUNGRY ANYMORE' to the 'Love + Fear' set list. 💚💕 💚💕💚💕💚💕 the power of this stanbase. ❞

On August 31, Marina shared a video of her rehearsing at the piano, with the caption stating she would upload the song to Spotify.

On tour, confusion regarding which version would be released on Spotify was caused after a fan interrupted her speech:

❝ This is one for quite hardcore long term fans. It's okay if you discovered me last week, but I just need to explain the song I'm going to play next, so; it's a song called I'm Not Hungry Anymore and it's never been released. I don't know, shit happens, it got leaked. This was for my last record called FROOT, and I'm very touched actually at how much fans are insane about it. Funny enough, I don't feel any pressure. You're not going to get the version you heard online. [Fan screams 'put it on Spotify'] Put it on Spotify? Yes, I will put it on Spotify. ❞

Some assumed the original version would not be released on Spotify. However, Marina meant the demo would not be played on tour, as she played an acoustic rendition instead. Marina later explained in a 2019 interview with Billboard:

❝ I think I will try and put it out on Spotify at some point. I mean, no harm is done really... if they love the demo version, then that's great. Because that's what I've got [laughs]. I don't think I'm producing it again unless I do an acoustic version. I kind of think, 'Oh, maybe I should've put it on [Froot],' but I guess at the time something just wasn't right for me. But maybe that doesn't matter; maybe it's more just about the lyrics and the sentiment. ❞

On January 14, 2020, the song was registered with BMI without David Kosten, leading fans to believe it was not the version produced by him. However, none of the FROOT songs are registered with David, as he is credited as a producer rather than a writer.

In June 2021, almost two full years after promising to release the song, Marina responded to a fan's question in a private meet and greet:

❝ I didn't put it on Spotify because someone leaked it, so I was like 'what's the point' ❞

However, the song had already leaked when promising to publish it.

At the same time, the leaked demo version of the track was unofficially uploaded to streaming services such as Spotify, Deezer and Amazon, with the song available to stream and download. It has since been taken down.

On April 4, 2023, Marina tweeted a lyric from the song: "There's no rush anymore".

In March 2024, in an Instagram post celebrating the album's ninth year anniversary, Marina said she plans on "releasing something special next year". On August 23, she liked a comment on TikTok asking her to release the song as part of the 10 year edition of FROOT.
