Miss Y (also known as Miss Why) is an unreleased song by Marina Diamandis, intended for her scrapped second album die Life.

The song was written by Marina and Greg Kurstin, who also produced the track.

Background

The original file of the "To Be Great" version of the song was encoded with iTunes 10.1 and lists "Daniel Johns" as a composer. This version of iTunes was released on November 12, and an updated version came out shortly thereafter on December 15, 2010. However, as the song's metadata lists its year as 2011, the software was likely out of date.

Although his contributions to the song are unknown, Daniel Johns is a singer-songwriter from Australia who was also under Atlantic Records, like Marina, at the time. He has also collaborated with Greg Kurstin. Marina was in Australia from December 28, 2010 and January 3, 2011, on The Family Jewels Tour.

The original file of the "To Become Great" version was encoded with iTunes 10.2.1, and does not list a composer. iTunes 10.2.1 was released on March 8, and an updated version was released on April 18, 2011.

The song was registered once on ASCAP/BMI and registry site GEMA, with Greg Kurstin credited as a co-writer.
