Krystal Dixxx[]

In a now deleted webchat from 2010, when asked if she would "scream" on any more songs, she replied:[1] "yes, i scream on song called 'The Outsider' i'm also doing a hairmetal side project next year called 'Krystal Dixxx' if i get bored of Pop-ville"

Two years later, in an interview published in September 2012, Marina revealed she had an idea for a "bubblegum thrash metal band" called "Krystal Dixxx", and she wanted to take a summer off to create it with two of her friends; however she wasn't sure if it would come to fruition.[2]

die Life[]

Main Article: die Life

Marina originally intended for her second studio album to be produced by one person, and would see her become "less commercial."[3] At some point, in late 2010 or early 2011, she then got the idea of a side project under the name "Electra Heart,"[4] when she was told by her manager it wasn't possible,[5] she merged the projects.

The Archetypes Exhibition[]

Main Article: The Archetypes

To accompany her second studio album Electra Heart, Marina wanted to do an exhibition for a gallery, with films she was working on for the album and photography collections.[6]

Missing Archetypes Videos[]

In a June 2012 interview, Marina revealed she envisioned 15 parts.[7] When asked about The Archetypes and Su-Barbie-A, she explained:[8]

If I'm honest I'm not really sure what they are, or why I do them. [laughs] But I do them and I like doing them, and they say something else that the record doesn't. So that's the aim of those clips. There will probably be like five of those, and fifteen parts in total. I don't know, I just really enjoy doing them. [What do they say that the album doesn't say?] Well I think they focus on the two themes a little bit more, which is identity, which is what the archetypes is focusing on. And I suppose explaining why I have an attraction to the visual side of the things and why it's really important.

Marina repeated there would be more "homemade" videos, as "that's what builds up the bulk of the message, and the whole vision, because sometimes I'm just crap at saying what I mean. So it's much easier for me to do it in the form of a photograph or a video". It can be assumed the unreleased other three mini-videos would be for the missing archetypes, Homewrecker, Idle Teen and Beauty Queen.[9] Video footage from the photoshoots made it into The Archetypes (song) and Su-Barbie-A, also appearing in E.V.O.L for a small amount of frames only. No footage representing Beauty Queen or Idle Teen was used, and only 11 videos were ultimately released.

HEARTCORE[]

In December 2012, Marina revealed she was working on a fan film titled "HEARTCORE" (sometimes stylised as "HEARTC♡RE"), which would document her tour across the USA.[10] A few months later, in March 2013, she shared a preview,[11] however, the documentary never came to fruition.

On June 23, 2015, Diamandis was asked what happened to the documentary, and whether something similar could be expected in the future, to which she responded:[12]

No, the buggers used any good footage I had in a tour video for "HTBAH". C'est la vie. It was going to be a great project but the material I had didn't feel close to what I wanted to show. I never want to put something out that i am not fully happy with. I wanted it to be a doc about you, not me.

Female Collab Album[]

On July 29, 2019, Marina posted to her social media:

Who are your favourite female producers, writers and artists right now? I’m creating my next project... and this story can only be told by women. I’m looking for you. 💗 tag anyone you’d love to hear me create with. or tag yourself :)

She tagged the location as "Woman's World", and in the second photo she held up five fingers, leading fans to believe that she was doing a completely female lead project for her fifth album.

In April 2020, when asked about the "female collab album" Marina said:[13]

It's essentially still in the works, in terms of 'it could happen'. I think what I found at the time is a lot of people were very exited about the idea, but it's really hard to make collaborations actually happen. I'm always so up for working with other women. I think there are so many problems with how female artists are viewed. I'm actually working with a female producer for this record, so in my own way I'm doing that, I just don't know yet if that's an album of collaborations or not. I'm just writing it on my own for now.

It's likely the pandemic made things difficult to organise, and ultimately this female lead collaboration album did not happen. It's not known how many songs were written or recorded for this initial idea, other than Man's World and Cause I'm A Woman.[14]

Demo Album[]

The demo album was first mentioned in April 2019, shortly prior to the release of LOVE + FEAR. Taken from an interview with Vogue:[15]

She's even flirting with the idea of rerecording her 'scratchy, GarageBand singles' of fan favorites like 'Simplify' and 'Bad Kidz' for an official demos album, although there are no concrete plans yet.

Two years later, in a 2021 meet-and-greet in support of Ancient Dreams In A Modern Land, Marina answered a fan's question regarding I'm Not Hungry Anymore, a FROOT outtake which she had talked about releasing in 2019:[16]

I didn't put it [I'm Not Hungry Anymore] on Spotify because someone leaked it, so I was like, 'what's the point?' I've kind of been planning to do an album of demos at some point, [demos] from the start, really rough demos, like Dirty Sheets and Bad Kidz, and stuff like that. So, we'll see.

In the Deconstructed Dreams Afterparty, when asked whether she would still re-record old demos, she responded:[17]

Sometimes, I get really intense about it, when I listen to old stuff and I'm like, 'oh my god, Dirty Sheets is so good. The chorus is so good on it, I should record it again'. [laughs] So, I don't know. Maybe if my songwriting talent ever dries up, I'll go back to the demos and make an album out of them. It would be fun to, especially with my current sound.

In August 2024, when asked if she would released her unreleased music, she said:[18] "No we have to move on bebe"
