This Is L.A. (also known as This Is LA) is a song by Marina Diamandis, released under her previous stage name 'Marina and the Diamonds' on MySpace.
The song was written by Marina, and produced by an unknown collaborator.
Background[]
The file of This Is L.A. was encoded with iTunes v6.0.5.20,[2] which was launched in June 29, 2006.[3] Although the software may have not been up to date, the song was first mentioned in MySpace comments on July 5, 2006, along with Troubled Mind and Plastic Rainbow.[4]
The latter tracks, as well as Philosopher My Arse and China's Dolls, were produced by an unknown collaborator in 2006. Unhappy with the progressive rock sound, Marina started producing her own music instead in 2007.[5]

Lyrics[]
[Verse 1]
White, white teeth, dark, dark skin
Long blond hair, Botox grin
This is what you need to be
'Cause this is what is real beauty
[Verse 2]
It's all about her, 'cause she's an out, out sell
She'll trade her soul for a burning Hell
Perfect plastic nails shall melt
On the fingers of the hand she dealt
'Cause what she's got just ain't enough
Oh, life's a catwalk, life is tough, yeah
[Chorus]
This is L.A., this is L.A., L.A.
The achromatic city
Where the people are so gray
L.A., this is L.A., this is L.A.
[Verse 3]
Why don't you try to shout out loud
That personal faults are quite allowed?
It's pudding proof that we are real
And she's a hamster on their wheel, yeah
[Verse 4]
Who am I and who are you?
We were so empty, almost see-through
White, white teeth are such a must
But sweetheart, you can't dazzle us
With smiles that always remind me
Of fallen flowers and rising weeds
[Chorus]
This is L.A., this is L.A., L.A.
The achromatic city
Where the people are so grey
L.A., this is L.A., this is L.A.
Yeah, this is L.A., this is L.A., L.A.
The achromatic city
Where the people are so grey
L.A., this is L.A., this is L.A.
[Bridge]
Come, come flash your clean, clean cash
Gleaming on the outside, but you're teaming with decay
Please don't make me stay, don't make me stay
Please don't make me stay another day
